Few things can be as upsetting and nerve-wracking to a parent as those times when your child is unwell. As parents and caregivers, we are responsible for our children’s wellbeing and often feel that we would do anything to make them feel better. However, while a little love and care goes a long way, taking care of children’s health is often more complicated than it sometimes appears. Moreover, a child’s developing body can be a delicate and complex system to treat when he/she is affected by an illness. In the very young, this is often further complicated by an inability on the part of the child to express their discomfort in terms that can be helpful in discovering the problem. Furthermore, all this makes the field of paediatrics a highly important branch of medicine, requiring the utmost level of skill and professionalism.
